4 Napkin Hacks Anyone can Master in Minutes
Spend time looking at #tablescapes on Pinterest or Instagram can leave us feeling woefully inadequate. There are so many talented event designers that make jaw dropping tablescapes to drool over. Truth is, this is not reality for the rest of us.
But no one can deny the warm ambiance created from a lovingly-decorated table. It makes us want to linger over good conversation, delicious food, candlelight, and more wine.
With a few simple, inexpensive tricks, anyone can master the look by creatively placing the napkin and a decorative item at each placesetting. Glam it up or add industrial, festive, rustic or modern elements to your table.
4 easy-to-create place settings
1. A Flatware Nest in Your Napkin
Fold a cloth napkin in half lengthwise. Place flatfware in the middle of napkin. Fold bottom half of napkin over the bottom half of the flatware. Place a decorative item on the bottom.
In this case, two cinnamon sticks and a plaid ribbon add the finishing touch.
2. Bow Tie Napkin
Fold a napkin in half, tie a bow around the napkin tight enough to make the napkin fold over on one side. One half of ribbon will fall to one side and the other half to the back. You can add cinnamon sticks, an ornament, greenery, a small flower on the top half as a finishing touch.
3. Hanging Napkin Between Plates
Whether you are planning a wedding, or obsessively checking out tablescapes on instagram or pinterest, you cannot miss the ever present "napkin between plates" look.
It is elegant and the quickest napkin placement there is. An added plus is the top plate is available for a decorative item, a menu, a favor, a flower or plant, or a table seating name card.
4. Ribbon-wrapped Napkin with Decor Item
Quality ribbon come in so many styles to fit any decor. Use wired ribbon to wrap around a simply-folded napkin. Above a sparkly ornament adds bling.
Below, gold painted pine cones are used with a longer piece of ribbon to create a soft tie around the napkin.
Cloth napkins are an inexpensive splurge that makes every meal feel special. Monochromatic white on white looks simply chic. And a bold-colored napkin adds a splash of drama.
